Receives Passing Grade in Rockingham Test
Be fast, be in command, be
comfortable is just a few of the encouraging words that Gabi DiCarlo heard from
one of the best teachers in all of racing. Crew chief Barry Dodson’s star pupil
didn’t let him down as she took to the famous North Carolina Speedway. DiCarlo
guided the Great Clips Racing Chevrolet Monte Carlo around the famed “Rock”
like a seasoned veteran and passed every test the track and Dodson could throw
at her.
“A plus on the effort that Gabi
put into this test today,” said Dodson. “All you can ask of a driver is that
they give you great feedback, run consistent lines and don’t overdrive. Gabi
did all that and more, I have worked with drivers that have been in series a
lot longer and were never able to give me the feedback like Gabi. We have a set
up that we think will make us a force to be reckoned with come race day.”
DiCarlo ended the morning
session in the 15th position on the speed chart. The rest of the day
the team concentrated on making the racer fast on long runs.
“This is a great race track, I never
thought I would ever get to turn a lap at the “Rock” and we all owe Andy
Hillenburg a huge debt of thanks for bringing such a tradition rich track to
the ARCA/REMAX Series,” said Gabi. “This is going to be one of the most
exciting races in my career. Race fans will need to come see this race I
guarantee they won’t be disappointed.”
The green flag will drop on the
inaugural Carolina
500 at 12:00 noon Eastern on Sunday, May 4th
and will be covered live on Speed.
The next event on the ARCA/REMAX
series will be the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 presented by Federated Auto
Parts April 13th at Salem Speedway.
