- Bill
Davis Racing Signs Annett: Michael Annett will join the
team in 2008
to
drive a BDR entry in the 10 ARCA RE/MAX Series races while also
participating
in the testing program, which will be overseen by competition
director Tommy Baldwin. The 21-year-old Des Moines, Iowa native run
in the ASA Late Model Series and has an impressive 60 percent top-10
completion rate. In 2007, Annett compiled one win, one pole, two
top-five
and four top-10 finishes in only four ARCA starts. "Michael
is a natural,"
said Bill Davis. "He is a young, but very talented driver and he
showcased
that at Talladega earlier this month. I am thrilled to give him the
opportunity
to join our program. I think he is a talent we will hear a lot about in
the
future." Annett made his first start for BDR at NASCAR's largest track,
Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway. Annett dominated the 250-mile race and
became the first driver in the 55-year history of the ARCA RE/MAX
Series to
take Toyota to victory lane. Annett qualified in the second position
and led all
but 19 laps en route to not only his first, but BDR's first ARCA win as
well.
"I am really excited and fortunate to have this opportunity with Bill
Davis
Racing," said Annett. The people at BDR are first class and the
equipment is
top notch and well prepared. I am really looking forward to working
with
Tommy Baldwin, Joe Lax, Mike Brown, and all the great people that
support
and work at Bill Davis Racing. I can't wait to get down to Daytona and
start
testing!
Our win from Talladega will help us carry a lot of momentum into
Daytona. I cannot thank Bill and Gail Davis enough for this chance and
look
forward to a long and prosperous future with Bill Davis Racing."(AHN MotorSports)

- Tri-State
Motorsports returning in 2008:
After nine-time ARCA RE/MAX Series driving champion Frank Kimmel
announced that he would be forming his own team for 2008, which
effectively ended his longtime partnership with car owner Larry
Clement's 46 car, Clement's phone is ringing off the hook. While
Clement is working diligently to secure sponsor-partners for the 46 car
for 2008, interest from drivers and crew chiefs has been overwhelming. "I've
been amazed by the number of talented drivers from the ARCA RE/MAX
Series as well as other series interested in driving the car," said
Clement. "If
we're able to continue our relationships with our key sponsor-partners
we will definitely have a competitive team. We have always
been able to achieve an excellent return on investment for all of our
sponsor-partners, and I fully expect that to continue. Pork
has been number one in sponsor value for the past several years. We
think we represent the 70,000 Pork Producers in a first-class way, both
on and off the track, along with our other sponsor-partners." (ARCARacing.com)

Kimmel parts ways with Tri-State Motorsports UPDATE: After
winning their ninth ARCA RE/MAX Series championship, Frank Kimmel and
Tri-State Motorsports have parted ways. Kimmel, along with his brother
and long-time crew chief, Bill Kimmel, will compete in the 2008 ARCA
RE/MAX Series under the Kimmel Racing banner as co-owners of the new
race team. A car number and primary sponsor for the new team have not
been determined. “This was a challenging decision to
make,” said Kimmel. “Larry Clement (Tri-State
Motorsports team owner) and I have enjoyed a lot of success in the ARCA
RE/MAX Series and he has given me a lot of great opportunities to
achieve success. We are excited about this new endeavor of Kimmel
Racing for 2008 and beyond -- we wish Larry and Tri-State Motorsports
the best as they also move forward.” After spending more than
a decade together, Kimmel and Tri-State Motorsports have earned a
record nine ARCA RE/MAX Series championships, including the 2007
championship. (FrankKimmel.com)
